Pople Need to Have Some Compassion

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 9, 2009, 1:46 PM

What kind of owner would take a kitten from their own home and toss it in the garbage? What kind of children would beat up an innocent little animal? What are their parents teaching them? It seems like people around here are so concerned about their own lives and well being that they can't find a little bit of compassion for another living thing. Parents should be teaching their children that animals should be treated as a fellow living creature and not as a play thing that can't feel pain. I'm disgusted.

This is a little kitten that my boyfriend and I rescued from being abused by some neighbor kids and "thrown away" by it's original owner. It has a boo boo on its head. His tummy is bloated... and he hasn't gone potty yet. I'm afraid he won't be around for much longer... so lets all hope he can be treated and live a long full life. I'm currently trying to find him a home, or he is going to go to a no-kill shelter where he can be treated and given the best care. Everyone pray for him...

What happens is that many people have not really awakened the love that is within them many times they do not address themselves and we must only pray that they also hope for improvements to the kitty.
Hey good action congratulations to you and your boyfriend^^.

Hey hun, if the kitten isn't "pottying" you really need to get him to a vet tonight, right now if you can. We can assume that the kitten isn't on any type of steroid, which may have caused bloat, since the family didn't care about it. Other reasons for bloat in small animals like that can be very serious and deadly, they don't just get full tummies like people.
Call around, explain your situation, and I'm sure you won't be asked to pay for the kitten's health. If you cannot find a clinic or no-kill shelter that will do the exams needed without money out of your pocket, search the web for a Cat rescue and call around to see if anyone will take in and sponsor the kitten.
Good luck, as I recall you live in the Chicago area, note me if you need any help getting the ball rolling. I can give you my tele number if you need it :)

Also, if you feel that you need to file a report against these people the ASPCA website can help you find a way to safely do so. The listed places to report abuse might also be able to help point you in the direction of getting care for the kitten.

Some people are the real animals. I was just watching Doctor Dolittle (1967 with Rex Harrison), and there was a song he did in a court room where he complains about how poorly people treat animals. This put me in mind of that.

Yeah, some people are pretty sickening. The last dog I had, as a puppy, had been pretty much a runt and was neglected and abused. When I got her she had tape tightly wrapped on all of her paws which would clearly cut off circulation. I don't know if there has been a time since where I've been as infuriated. She lived 7 years and was a very happy and beautiful dog that grew into a huge and athletic rascal at about 90Lbs+.

I just sent you a not about this little tyke. Please get back to me on this asap to let me know if things are being taken care of

That is very sad, im glad you and your boyfriend rescued it though. Sadly its not just there people dont seem to have compassion anywhere or even care about anyone or anything but themselves and they are teaching their kids the same bad habbits. its horrbal. I really do hope you find a good home for it or atleast a shelter that will take it in till it finds a good home.

Thanks darlin! He HAS gone potty! He went twice :) his tummy is getting smaller and he is very happy and healthy (with the exception of ear mites). I have called several no-kill shelters who can give him vet care as soon as they have a spot open. I'm calling every day until I can find a shelter with an opening. Luckily, if I have to take him to a vet, a fellow DA member has offered to pay :)
